The Austin Strategic Housing Blueprint sets goals, timelines, and strategies for maintaining and creating housing for a range of incomes throughout the city over the next ten years. The plan helps align resources, ensures a unified strategic direction, and facilitates community partnerships to achieve this shared vision.
The City of Austin has an opportunity to help an underserved East Austin community create and implement a vibrant plan for more than 200 publicly owned acres in Colony Park. This initiative is now headed by the Economic Development Department.
Homestead Preservation Districts (HPDs), in combination with Homestead Preservation Reinvestment Zones, can provide a dedicated funding stream to reinvest in housing affordability for the most impoverished areas of a city.
