The Economic Development Department was the lead agency for City of Austin for the Sustainable Places Project to assess the economic impact of the Project Connect Central Corridor High Capacity Transit Project.
About the Project
The Sustainable Places Project (SPP) is the result of a successful application for $3.7 million in funding under the 2010 HUD administered Sustainable Communities Planning Grant. The SPP deployed three principal strategies to achieve local sustainability goals mirroring the federal Livability Principles: development of an analytic tool; demonstration sites; and public engagement.
The Austin City Council selected the Urban Rail Program as the City’s demonstration site and the analytic tool, Envision Tomorrow + (ET+), was developed under the grant by Fregonese and Associates. Planning and Development Review Department and Transportation Department contributed to the project.
