On October 17, 2013, the Austin City Council passed a new Watershed Protection Ordinance to improve creek and floodplain protection; prevent unsustainable public expense on drainage systems; simplify development regulations where possible; and minimize the impact on the ability to develop land.
The Watershed Protection Ordinance is the result of a resolution approved by City Council on January 13, 2011. The City held a series of stakeholder meetings from August 2011 through June 2013 to obtain public input.
Stakeholder meetings for Phase 2, Green Infrastructure and Urban Hydrology, will resume in January 2014. We will continue to communicate with stakeholders via our email distribution list. If you are not already on the list and wish to be added, please email us.
