Highlights and Achievements
Identified the significance and added additional KPI measures trending use of Premium Time Labor Costs and Priority 1 Leak Response Time, and distributed these metrics throughout the organization using Cognos Business Intelligence Dashboards. With the increased focus on these measures, repair crews arrived on site within three hours of customer calls 95% of the time. In addition, total use of premium time to total personnel costs has trended lower by approximately 2.5% over the last two years, saving approximately $200,000 a year.
Supported the Mobile Workforce initiative at the utility by expanding Wi-Fi coverage at Davis Water Treatment Plant and deploying 190 tablets. These mobile devices facilitate work order management in plants, help reduce errors in the field, and improve staff efficiency.
Developed an integrated system for critical customers to ensure water service is continuous for hospitals and medically vulnerable residential customers during maintenance, repairs and distribution system emergencies. This system combines mapping, asset management, and the customer information systems and is accessible on mobile devices.
Created a web-based application that allows engineering firms and developers to more easily and securely obtain information about Austin Water infrastructure using a map interface. This reduced the need for data research and manual processes, improving the development process as they design construction plans. This system combines “as-builts” for assets that developers need to be able to design engineering drawings that will quickly pass the permitting process.
