The Public Works Department (PWD) connects people all around Austin by providing an integrated approach to the development, design, construction and maintenance of the City’s infrastructure systems and facilities, enhancing Austin’s position as an environmentally responsible City.
The Public Works Department System Engineering Office provides a spectrum of services to Public Works and other departments in four key areas: Information Management, IT Asset Management, Systems Management, and Geospatial services.
The group is divided into three functions:
Manager of the City’s Engineering Software System Bentley.
Content Manager of CIVIC, the City’s Capital Portfolio Information website.
Content Manager of the Infrastructure Management, Mapping, Planning and Coordination Tool (IMMPACT).

Highlights and Achievements
Implemented Agile Assets Pavement Assessment System. This tool supports the department’s Asset Management Approach by analyzing the pavement assessment data the department collects. The analysis helps create each year’s annual maintenance plan and helps determine the appropriate treatment to extend the life of a street.
Implemented the Annual Service Plan viewer utilizing ArcGIS online tools. This viewer lets the public know where the department will be doing street maintenance and the type of work that will be done.
