5 Tips for an Eco-Friendly Valentine’s

The store aisles are lined with greeting cards, candy, stuffed animals and all things pink and red. But this Valentine’s Day, you can be romantic while showing your love for Mother Nature, too.

Number 1

Choose chocolate consciously

Opt for organic, ethical sweets instead of a box full of individual wrappings.  It’ll save packaging, and taste sweeter without the pesticides!

Number 2

Purchase vintage or recycled jewelry

Give your loved one something as unique as they are.

Number 3

Make homemade bath products

Bath salts and sugar scrubs are a great way to pamper someone special, and they're easy to make with ingredients already in the house.

Number 4

Create your own card

Write a personal letter on the back of an old photograph or on recycled paper. It will be a memorable and thoughtful way to avoid contributing to the 145 million pre-made Valentine’s cards purchased each year.

Number 5

Think outside the flower box

For the best blooms, seek out a locally grown, organic bouquet. Better yet, a potted houseplant will last longer. Want to go even bigger? Plant a tree together for a gift that will grow along with your love!
