Special thank you message from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport CEO, Jacqueline Yaft
Dear AUS passengers,
As this year comes to a close and as we celebrate Thanksgiving, I want to take a moment to share with our passengers how grateful I am for each and every one of you. This year, we expect 21 million passengers to fly in and out of Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, the most amount of passengers to travel through the airport in a single year. 2022 has been a transformative year for our airport and has, at times, presented challenges. As the airlines and airports across the world raced to scale up staffing levels and operations to meet the amazing demand for air travel, we faced those exact challenges here at home in Austin.
While our airport has been proud to offer more nonstop service to more destinations than ever before, with more than 90 different destinations available from 18 airlines, we know that there have been times when passengers have endured unanticipated delays at AUS. We are excited that our passengers are so eager to return to the skies after 2020 and 2021. For that, we want you to know we are fully committed to enhancing the AUS experience through our Journey With AUS airport improvement program and by working with our on-airport partners such as the Transportation Security Administration, the airlines, concessions and more to help address staffing shortages.
To our passengers who have traveled with us this year, whether you’ve flown in or out just one time or are an AUS regular, thank you. Thank you for sticking with us through a power outage, through a global labor shortage, through unprecedented population growth to Austin and Central Texas. We are humbled and so grateful to be one of the strongest recovering airports in the country after the pandemic’s impacts to global travel. You, our passengers, are the reason we have recovered and are the reason we are embarking on a journey to transform and modernize your AUS airport.
From behalf of all of us from the Department of Aviation and Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, I thank you for traveling with us and wish you and yours a happy, healthy and safe 2022 holiday season.
