Still wondering: "Why Food Day"?

According to, the typical American diet contributes to obesity, heart disease and many other health problems that cost Americans over $150 billion per year.  Eating real, whole foods can drastically improve your health and make our food system a more humane, sustainable one.

Joining the Food Day movement isn’t just on one day.  It’s a year-long way to have a healthier diet and help create a better food system. We hope to see you on the Plaza this Friday so we can all take part in Rethinking Austin’s Food System!
