Council Member Bill Spelman - Staff

Heidi Gerbracht

Heidi Gerbracht currently serves as the Policy Director for City Council Member Bill Spelman.  She previously worked as an advisor to the City’s first Asian American Council Member, Jennifer Kim, and for Assistant City Manager Robert Goode handling city infrastructure. Prior to moving to Austin, Heidi spent several years fundraising and organizing on behalf of reproductive freedom at the National Family Planning and Reproductive Health Association in DC, where her online organizing work was recognized by the National Journal. When she’s not at her day job, Heidi serves on the Board of Directors of Annie's List, an organization that empowers and elects progressive women to the Texas Legislature.  She also serves on the Board of Directors of Choice USA, a national organization that works to build a youth centered pro-choice agenda and mobilize communities for reproductive justice.  She also advises several local non-profits on policy issues.

Heidi holds a Masters in Public Affairs from the LBJ School of Public Affairs and a B.A. in International Relations from American University's School of International Service. In her spare time, she is a trail runner with her dog Mokey (a big brown mutt from the shelter) and is an avid Texas country, Latin, and blues dancer. She is passionate about some of Austin's best assets: our fabulous outdoors and live music scenes.
