Ricky Guerrero Neighborhood Park reopened on Saturday, November 9, 2018. The 1.91-acre now complies with ADA standards and has addressed existing drainage issues which caused erosion problems to the park grounds.

The project consisted of installation of new ADA compliant sidewalks, concrete pads with picnic tables and grilles; rain gardens and site grading for drainage control. Installation of a new accessible parking space and retrofitting of existing restrooms to meet ADA compliance also occurred. Improvements provide a more accessible and enjoyable play area for the community. The scope of work also included new site lighting fixtures for security to enhance park safety.


The park is now open! Construction of park general improvements has been completed. The project includes new upgraded walkways to meet ADA accessibility and area lighting to increase safety by illuminating the walkway. New ADA compliant picnic tables with grilles, benches along with garbage bins have been furnished. The playground has been revitalized and a new preschool age playscape and swing installed. The restrooms facility has been improved to meet ADA compliance.


2012 Capital Improvement Bond and Parkland Dedication Fees

Parkland Dedication is a local government requirement imposed on subdivision and site plan applications mandating the dedication of land for a park and/or the payment of a fee to be used by the governmental entity to acquire land and/or develop park facilities.

  • An initial public meeting was held on Saturday, November 7, 2015. The meeting was held at the park, where the community members participated, to provide their input and join in a walking tour of the site.
  • A final public meeting held on Saturday, February 13, 2016. The open house meeting was held at Mainspring School to review the project on the proposed park improvements. The community members participated and offered their feedback on the final site plan, which took into account community feedback on the concepts presented in November 2015.
