Tanglewood Neighborhood Park was constructed as part of a Municipal Utility District (MUD) back in the 1990’s. The City annexed the park and PARD now has responsibility for the park and its amenities. The park is used by nearby residents for its wooded trails, Tai Chi, playscape, picnics, basketball, and volleyball.

Notice: Construction is complete and the park is open to the public with the exception of COVID-19 restrictions.

Project Background and Description

Tanglewood Neighborhood Park received new playground equipment. The old equipment was installed in 1992. Portions of the equipment exhibited rust and were missing components. The old equipment did not meet current PARD standards in terms of inclusiveness and shade. Sidewalks and part of the parking lot were replaced to meet current ADA code requirements with a few minor corrections needed. The pavilion that burned down in 2012 was replaced by a new pavilion located closer to the parking lot. In addition, the picnic shelter nearest to the playground was refinished. The old pavilion slab was refurbished with surfaces for hopscotch, four square and shuffle board, and the basketball court was resurfaced.

Objectives:

  • Improve the amenities of the park and provide ample opportunities for local residents.
  • Provide modern and updated amenities that will allow for maximum enjoyment of the area.
  • Enhance access to updated park amenities for ADA compliance.
