In partnership with Austin Independent School District (AISD), 4ATX, the charitable arm of Austin FC, and the U.S. Soccer Foundation, the Austin Parks and Recreation Department (PARD) has created a new soccer mini-pitch for the Austin community at Wooldridge School Park.

Background

The proposed soccer mini-pitch court (also called futsal) is the second mini-pitch created in partnership with PARD and 4ATX after the one at Dove Springs. Wooldridge School Park was identified as a possible location due to its underutilized tennis courts. The tennis courts are on city parkland.

Project Description

The double tennis courts that were converted were in poor shape and underutilized. The transformation of one of the two tennis courts into a mini-pitch provides a safe and exciting space for people to play soccer in this under-served and soccer passionate part of the city. This is also an exciting opportunity for the community to further connect with the community emphasis of the MLS team, Austin FC.
