Arrested:  Demonte Harris, Black male, 26-years-old

UPDATE: During the investigation, Homicide detectives identified Demonte Harris as the suspect in Bissereth's death. On March 30th, 2023, members of the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force and United States Marshals Service arrested Harris. He's charged with First Degree Felony Murder.

Deceased:  Fritzgerald Bissereth, Black male, 4-15-02

On Thursday, January 5, 2023, at approximately 1:18 a.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a crash in the 8600 block of N Lamar Blvd. When officers and first responders arrived, they discovered the driver of the vehicle, Fritzgerald Bissereth, had been shot and was unresponsive. Bissereth died on the scene.

Detectives believe Bissereth was shot by an unknown suspect who left the area immediately after.
