The Austin Police Department’s Vehicular Homicide Unit is requesting the public’s assistance in investigating a Failure to Stop and Render Aid traffic fatality. On July 23, 2020 at approximately 1:34 a.m., Sarah Christina Dabadie was struck and killed by an automobile in the 9100 block of Research Blvd. southbound proper. The vehicle(s) that struck Dabadie did not stop.  

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Vehicular Homicide Unit at 512-974-4278, Crime Stoppers anonymous tips hotline at 512-472-TIPS(8477) or use the Crime Stoppers App. You can also submit tips by downloading APD’s mobile app, Austin PD, for free on iPhone and Android.

Location:            9100 block of Research Blvd. southbound proper
 
Deceased:          Sarah Christina Dabadie, White female, D.O.B. 01/26/1977

On Thursday, July 23, 2020 at approximately 1:34 a.m., APD officers responded to what appears to be a vehicle versus pedestrian collision in the 9100 block of Research Blvd. on the southbound proper. The preliminary investigation shows that a pedestrian was in the roadway for an unknown reason and unknown circumstances. The pedestrian appears to have been struck by a vehicle. The driver/vehicle that struck the pedestrian did not stop and is unknown at this time. Several motorists who were passing by after the pedestrian had already been hit, stopped and called 9-1-1. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased on-scene at 1:56 a.m. This incident is being investigated as a criminal matter.

This is Austin’s 43rd fatal traffic crash of 2020, resulting in 46 fatalities this year. At this time in 2019, there were 42 traffic fatalities.
 
These statements are from the initial assessment of the fatal crash and investigation is still pending. Fatality information may change.
