On November 9, 2021, the Lonestar Fugitive Task Force arrested a 15-year-old Hispanic male on a 1st degree felony murder warrant. The juvenile was transported and booked into Gardner Bettes Juvenile Detention Facility.

The Austin Police Department (APD) has identified Brian Ocampo as the deceased in the November 4 homicide on SH 71.
At approximately 5:58 p.m., Austin 9-1-1 received a call of a male shot in a vehicle at 8220 W. SH 71. When APD and Austin-Travis County EMS arrived on scene, they found Brian Ocampo with multiple gunshot wounds sitting in the driver’s seat of a black BMW. Despite live-saving measures, Mr. Ocampo succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at approximately 6:17 p.m. by Dr. Abraham from the Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Homicide investigators and crime scene technicians were called to process the scene and interview witnesses.
On November 5, 2021, the Travis County Medical Examiner’s office conducted an autopsy and ruled the cause of death as a multiple gunshots wounds and the manner, homicide.
