On June 15th, 2022, at approximately 1:30 a.m., investigators with the Austin Police Department Sex Crimes Unit and Patrol Division responded to a hotel
located in the 500 block of East 4^th Street. When officers arrived, they received a report that a man, Devonta Darden, entered a hotel room while 2 female guests were sleeping and committed a sexual assault.
 
The suspect initially fled the scene but was caught a short time later. Darden is currently in the Travis County Jail charged with 1^st Degree Felony – Burglary of a Habitation with intent to commit a felony.
