The Austin Police Department is conducting a Labor Day DWI Initiative in an effort to reduce the number of crashes, injuries, and fatalities due to intoxicated drivers. This initiative will be in effect nightly from August 21^st thru September 7^th. The hours are between 9 p.m. and 5 p.m.
 
The goal of this initiative is to keep the public safe during this peak travel period by encouraging drivers to make responsible decisions and to have personnel available to take enforcement action if required.
 
The Austin Police Department is focused on saving lives on the streets and highways of Austin and making Austin roadways safe for everyone through education and enforcement. This initiative is provided through an Impaired Driving Mobilization Grant from TXDOT.
