Covid-19 News Update

APH has closed all three COVID-19 vaccine clinics scheduled for today.

Due to inclement weather and icy road conditions, Austin Public Health has closed all three COVID-19 vaccine clinics scheduled for today and will be cancelling all appointments. APH will be in touch to reschedule appointments for next week.

All appointments scheduled today were for second doses of the COVID-19 vaccine for people who received their first dose between Jan. 11 and Jan. 16. As a reminder, people can receive their second shot between 28 and 42 days after their first shot.

Approximately 2,300 appointments for second doses were scheduled for today at all three sites.

“We know this is frustrating and disappointing,” said Dr. Mark Escott Interim Public Health Authority for Austin-Travis County. “The health and safety of our residents is our top priority and we want to ensure that we do not put people in harm’s way while protecting them from COVID-19.”

People scheduled for vaccines today do not need to log into their account to reschedule. A new appointment will be sent out via email or phone as conditions dictate later in the week. The vaccine, once refrigerated, remains viable for 30 days.  Those who received first doses from Austin Public Health are assured they can receive their second dose from Austin Public Health.
