Get a flu shot

Some COVID-19 test sites closed Saturday due to event.

Austin, Texas – To prevent the spread of the flu virus in the community, Austin Public Health (APH) is hosting a drive-thru flu shot event this Saturday, Nov. 7, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Travis County Expo Center. This event will distribute approximately 600 flu shots and is the second flu shot clinic serving as a drill for when a COVID-19 vaccine is widely available in the future.

Vaccine Event Details

APH strongly encourages those wishing to get a free flu shot at the Saturday event to sign up ahead of time so that we can guarantee a vaccine for those who need it. There are still openings; to schedule an appointment, please call the APH Immunizations line at (512) 972-5520. The line is available 8:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Monday - Friday.

APH is encouraging those who have insurance to visit VaccineFinder.org to find a location near them offering flu shots. Priority at the Saturday flu shot event will be given to those who are uninsured.

COVID-19 Test Sites Closed Saturday

To ensure adequate staffing for the vaccine event, APH-managed COVID-19 neighborhood test sites will be closed Saturday, Nov. 7. They will return to their normal schedule on Monday.

  • Individuals needing a COVID-19 test on Saturday should consider pharmacies or doctors offices if they have insurance.
  • Those without insurance can schedule an appointment at the APH drive-through test site or the Lark Center test site at covid19.austintexas.gov or by calling 512-972-5560. The Pflugerville test site at 103 North Railroad Ave, Pflugerville, TX, 78660 is also open for walk-up tests from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday.
