On Tuesday, November 15, 2022, the 145th Cadet Class and the 146th Transitional Officer Cadet Class of the Austin Police Department (APD) will participate in the traditional Chief's Run.
Chief of Police Joseph Chacon and APD's Executive Staff will join the 63 cadets on a run beginning at 7 a.m. The run will begin at the south end of the Congress Ave Bridge and end at the Texas State Capitol Peace Officers Memorial.

Where: Austin-American Statesman Parking Lot to State Capitol Peace Officers Memorial
When: 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 15, 2022
Why: The traditional Chief's Run focuses on unity within the community and department, along with Chief Chacon's address to the cadets.
Interviews: Interviews with Chief of Police Joseph Chacon, APD Cadets, and Personnel will take place after the run.
The run will proceed from the Statesman parking lot, northbound on Congress Ave, and end at the State Capitol Peace Officers Memorial.
The cadets will be commissioned during a graduation ceremony on Friday, November 18. More details of the graduation ceremony to follow in a separate press release later this week.
