Austin, TX – The City of Austin’s Community Acquisition Program, a part of Project Connect’s Anti-Displacement initiatives, provides zero-percent interest forgivable and non-forgivable loans to eligible non-profit organizations for the acquisition of property that increases the supply of affordable housing. Loans are available on a rolling basis until available program funds are exhausted.

The program intends to provide additional low-income housing to people in need by providing funds to eligible 501(c)(3) non-profits with experience renovating, constructing, leasing, and selling affordable housing in Austin, to acquire property to increase the supply of affordable housing in the city of Austin

Funds must be used on property one acre or less in size, to be developed, renovated, leased, and sold as affordable housing to low-income households within gentrifying areas no more than one mile from a proposed Project Connect transit line.

Organizations interested in applying for funding should adhere to the program’s guidelines(PDF) and submit a completed application(XLSM) to HousingDevelopment@AustinTexas.Gov.

The Community Acquisition Program is funded with Project Connect Anti-Displacements funds approved by city voters as Proposition A on the November 3, 2020 ballot. Funds for the program are available for qualified non-profits for the 2021-2022 fiscal year.

Questions and requests for additional information may be directed to HousingDevelopment@AustinTexas.Gov.
