Report makes recommendations, identifies shortcomings of CodeNEXT
The Equity Office has released a third-party analysis on the comprehensive Land Use and Development Code rewrite named "CodeNEXT."
The report makes several recommendations, including increased attention on the effects of the new code. For example, much of the new regulation on landscaping and tree canopy cover don't mention the health benefits of these initiatives.
Additionally, the report recommends a more consistent and cohesive approach to the outcomes. Much of the Logic Models of CodeNEXT did not cross departments, even as the two were dealing with the same or similar policy areas.
The analysis draws from an Equity Analysis done on CodeNEXT Draft 3. The report was written by third-party consultant Mesu Strategies, hired via the Office's relationship with the national Government Alliance on Race and Equity.
