The Austin Police Department’s (APD) Highway Enforcement Unit will participate in the upcoming Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) International Roadcheck 2020. The initiative will run throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico from Wednesday, September 9 through Friday, September 11, 2020.

Roadcheck 2020 will emphasize safety and security on North American highways through commercial vehicle inspections with special emphasis on driver requirements. Truck and bus safety inspectors from the Austin Police Department and neighboring agencies will be at the Toney Burger Activity Center and Stadium assessing vehicles. Roving patrols will also inspect vehicles and review criteria for driver’s fitness for duty.
 
More than 3.36 million roadside safety inspections are conducted across North American annually by specially-trained inspectors. The number of inspections continues to grow as the volume of commercial traffic increases on our roadways.
