City of Austin
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASERelease Date:
AUSTIN, Texas – Condor Airlines inaugurated service in Texas today with the launch of new, nonstop service between Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) and Frankfurt International Airport (FRA). Shortly after touching down for the first time ever in Austin, the arriving flight received a water cannon salute, and German and Texas flags were flown by the captain from cockpit windows. Departing passengers enjoyed live music from Uncle Simon’s Good Time Polka Band, inaugural cake, Auntie Anne’s pretzels and a ribbon cutting.
“The booking outlook is so promising that we’ve already made the flights available for next summer and extended the season, May through October, so even more opportunities for you to fly to Europe,” announced Wilken Bellmann, Condor’s Head of Network Development Long-Haul.
“The addition of Austin, as our 14th destination in the United States, shows clearly how important the U.S. market is for Condor. The demand for passengers to travel to Germany or beyond from North America is as high as ever before. Therefore, we will also add the beautiful cities of San Diego and New Orleans to our route network next summer, increasing our North American destination portfolio to 18. We want to cater to those who want to avoid crowded and congested hubs, and rather travel nonstop to Frankfurt from their home airport, such as Austin, Texas,” said Jens Boyd, Condor’s Director Long Haul & Revenue Management. “And once in Frankfurt, passengers can connect to basically any major destination in Europe. With our numerous partner airlines, we offer flights beyond Frankfurt to over 120 destinations at very competitive prices. Access to the German Railway is also easily available.”

Departing Condor flight crew, along with (l to r) Patti Edwards, Austin-Bergstrom International Airport; Titus Johnson, Condor, VP Sales, North America & Caribbean; and (kneeling) Oliver Glaser, Condor's Outbound Captain, cut the ribbon at the gate to board AUS-FRA.
The seasonal flights operating through Sept. 1, 2016, are scheduled to depart Austin at 7:55 p.m. and arrive in Frankfurt at 1:10 p.m. the following day. Returning flights are scheduled to depart FRA at 1:25 p.m. and arrive at AUS at 5:55 p.m., all times local. Flights will operate on Condor's B767-300ER, which has 259 seats with 18 business, 35 premium, and 206 economy class seats. Tickets are available at www.condor.com/us.
“I am pleased to welcome Condor to Austin-Bergstrom International Airport with a new nonstop to Frankfurt, Germany. Austin is a magical and ever-more international city, and this flight provides new access for Austinites, as well as those who want to visit us,” said Austin Mayor Steve Adler.
