On Saturday, August 15, 2020, at approximately 10:57 p.m., Austin police responded to a single-vehicle crash in the 8500 block of FM 969. The preliminary investigation shows that the vehicle, a white, 2015 Chevrolet Silverado, was traveling southbound on Decker Lane when the driver proceeded through the green light at Decker and 969 before losing control of the truck. The truck crashed through thick underbrush and trees and knocked down a fence before coming to stop, facing northbound. Witnesses on scene assisted in getting the driver and the passenger in the rear passenger’s seat out of the Silverado. The passenger on the rear driver’s side, Alfonso Sanchez Angeles, was pronounced deceased on scene. The other passenger was treated and released.

The driver, Juan Manuel Aboyles-Garcia, was transported to an area hospital to be treated for his injuries. He was arrested and charged with intoxication manslaughter. Aboyles-Garcia is currently in the Travis County Jail with a $50,000 bond.
