The preliminary investigation shows that a silver Honda Accord was traveling southbound in the inside lane of the 3800 block of S. U.S. Highway 183. For unknown reasons, the vehicle lost control, left the roadway and struck a telephone pole. The Honda then caught on fire. A witness to the crash, confirmed that it was a single-vehicle crash and no other people or vehicles were involved.
The sole occupant of the vehicle was pronounced deceased on scene at 10:19 p.m. He remains unidentified at this time and next of kin has not been notified. It is believed alcohol may be a contributing factor in this crash.
