Date: October 31, 2020
Time: 7:36 p.m.
Location: 9400 block of Burnet Rd.
Deceased: White male, 42 years of age
The preliminary investigation shows that an unknown suspect vehicle was traveling northbound in the 9300 block of Burnet Rd. A red, 2010 Mazda sedan and a white, 2009 Ford Mustang was traveling somewhere behind the unknown suspect vehicle. A witness stated that she was traveling northbound in the outside lane of the 9300 block of Burnet Rd. and observed a pedestrian crossing the road from the east to west curb line. The witness stated that the pedestrian crossed the road without regard to vehicular traffic, without looking and not in a crosswalk. The unknown suspect vehicle struck the pedestrian in the inside lane as the pedestrian attempted to cross the road. After the collision, the suspect vehicle did not stop and continued driving. The witness could only describe the suspect vehicle as possibly a red car. She pulled immediately to the side of the road and observed other vehicles strike the pedestrian as he lay on the ground.
The driver of the Mazda said he never saw the initial auto-pedestrian crash and never saw the pedestrian laying in the roadway until it was too late. The driver of the Ford also said she never saw the pedestrian until it was too late. Both drivers pulled over and are fully cooperating with the investigation.
The witness pulled her vehicle into the roadway in order to block traffic and prevent the pedestrian from being struck by more vehicles.
The pedestrian was pronounced deceased on scene at 7:47 p.m. This fatal auto-pedestrian crash is being investigated as a failure to stop and render aid case.
