On Thursday, July 18, 2019, Austin 911 received a call of shots fired at the Rare Apartments. Austin police and Austin-Travis County EMS arrived on scene and located Alexander Morgan Jr. with multiple gunshot wounds. Morgan was transported to Dell Seton Medical Center at the University of Texas where he remained in critical condition.
On Sunday, July 21, 2019, Austin Police were notified that Morgan had been declared brain dead at 1:33 p.m. by Dr. Coopwood.
Detectives from the Aggravated Assault unit responded to the scene and spoke with witnesses. They learned two men had earlier come to Gibb’s apartment to collect drug debt from Morgan. Gibbs became upset with Morgan for bringing his drug problems to the apartment. The men argued and it escalated to the point where Gibbs took his pistol and shot Morgan multiple times.
Based on this information, detectives obtained a murder warrant for Marcus Gibbs.
In addition to this murder, Marcus Gibbs is wanted for another murder in Pennsylvania where he is accused of killing his ex-girlfriend.
Investigators followed up on tips that lead them to 304 Masterson Pass where the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force took Gibbs in to custody last night without incident. His booking photo is attached below:
