On Wednesday, August 26, 2020, at approximately 2:46 p.m., Austin 911 received multiple calls of shots fired outside a residence in the 6600 block of Jane’s Ranch Road. One caller reported having shot someone who attacked him. Upon arrival, officers located the male resident with a gunshot wound and a second male with less-severe trauma. Austin-Travis County EMS arrived and worked on both men. The resident with the gunshot was pronounced deceased on scene. The second individual was transported to an area hospital.
Homicide detectives and crime scene specialists arrived and began processing the scene. Detectives are interviewing witnesses and canvassing the area for video. The information gathered thus far indicates that this is an isolated domestic incident with no ongoing threat to the public. All parties involved have been identified. This remains an active investigation.
The Travis County Medical Examiner’s office will conduct an autopsy to determine the official cause and manner of death.
