May 2022 sets record for busiest month at AUS

AUSTIN, TEXAS – Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) passenger traffic growth for May 2022 was up 82.68% compared to May 2021 with 2,021,747 passengers flying during the month, setting a new record for busiest month ever at the airport.

Passenger Activity: Total passenger traffic for May 2022 was 2,021,747, up 82.68% compared to May 2021. May 2022 enplanements totaled 1,031,873, up 83.01%. Southwest Airlines passengers totaled 787,698, up 118.6%; American Airlines passengers totaled 527,653, up 97.7%; Delta Air Lines passengers totaled 234,772, up 38.5%; United Airlines passengers totaled 206,387, up 83.1%; Alaska Airlines passengers totaled 90,560, up 51.6%; Spirit Airlines passengers totaled 47,584, up 6.9%; Allegiant Air passengers totaled 40,455, up 136.9%; JetBlue Airways passengers totaled 30,902, down 39.1%;  British Airways passengers totaled 14,854; Frontier Airlines passengers totaled 11,454, down 44.9%; Hawaiian Airlines passengers totaled 6,509, up 63.5%; KLM Royal Dutch Airlines passengers totaled 5,533; Aeromexico passengers totaled 5,259; Lufthansa passengers totaled 5,137; Air Canada passengers totaled 4,222; Sun Country Airlines passengers totaled 1,686, up 465.8%; and Virgin Atlantic passengers totaled 1,082.

May 2022 air cargo totaled 26,298,216 lbs., up 41.43% compared to May 2021. International air cargo totaled 1,551,959 lbs., up 6,175.61%. Air Transport International carried 8,455,176 lbs.; Federal Express carried 7,149,312 lbs., down 9.7%; United Parcel Services carried 3,144,271 lbs., up 15.4%; Atlas Air carried 1,937,773 lbs.; and Amerijet International Airlines carried 1,133,719 lbs., down 39.2%.

Air Services transferred 554,604 lbs. of mail, down 20.17%; and 3,336,259 lbs. of belly freight, up 292.59%.

Aircraft Operations: General Aviation operations totaled 5,033, up 36.95%. Combined operations (including commercial and military) totaled 24,303, up 53.34%.
 

January – May 2022
 

Passenger Activity: Total passenger traffic for January – May 2022 was 8,009,684, up 132.71%, compared to January – May 2021. January – May 2022 enplanements totaled 4,019,463, up 132.65%. Southwest Airlines passengers totaled 3,059,990, up 168.4%; American Airlines passengers totaled 2,154,748, up 182.9%; Delta Air Lines passengers totaled 928,253, up 91.5%; United Airlines passengers totaled 821,682, up 97.9%; Alaska Airlines passengers totaled 363,941, up 119.8%; Spirit Airlines passengers totaled 203,542, up 12.2%; JetBlue Airways passengers totaled 149,947, down 6.3%; Allegiant Air passengers totaled 139,132, up 192.1%;  Frontier Airlines passengers totaled 55,333, down 30%; British Airways passengers totaled 46,110; Aeromexico passengers totaled 24,283; Hawaiian Airlines passengers totaled 23,756, up 389.5%; Air Canada passengers totaled 14,898; KLM Royal Dutch Airlines passengers totaled 10,624; Lufthansa passengers totaled 8,461; Sun Country Airlines passengers totaled 2,845, up 243.2%; Virgin Atlantic passengers totaled 1,082; Omni Air International passengers totaled 471; Swift Air passengers totaled 301, down 68.2%; and Qatar Airways passengers totaled 285.

January – May 2022 air cargo totaled 128,587,414 lbs., up 44.83% compared to January – May 2021. International air cargo totaled 6,427,521 lbs., up 2,087.36%. Federal Express carried 34,454,457 lbs., down 7.1%; Air Transport International carried 33,645,958 lbs., up 1,045.6%; Atlas Air carried 16,969,820, up 1,095.2%; United Parcel Services carried 15,931,742 lbs., up 20.1%; and Amerijet International Airlines carried 6,698,435 lbs., down 30.3%.

Air Services transferred 3,126,907 lbs. of mail, up 2.05%; and 13,930,427 lbs. of belly freight, up 365.33%.

Aircraft Operations: General Aviation operations totaled 21,937 for January – May 2022, up 29.07%. Combined operations (including commercial and military) totaled 109,818, up 73.43%.
