Community Services Block Grant Needs Assessment Also Rescheduled to Tuesday, April 28, 2015
The public hearing on community needs with regard to housing, community development, economic development, and public services that was scheduled for the Community Development Commission meeting earlier this month has been rescheduled for Tuesday, April 28th at 6:30 pm. The meeting will take place in the Street-Jones Building at 1000 East 11th Street in Room 400A.
The public hearing is part of the process of updating the Action Plan which the City of Austin must provide to the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) each year to continue to receive federal funding from the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), HOME Investment Partnerships, Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG), and/or Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA) programs.
As part of this needs assessment process, citizens can provide input by completing a short online survey here. Please contact the Neighborhood Housing and Community Development Office with any questions at (512) 974-3100 (voice) or (512) 974-3102 (TDD) Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, or by email at NHCD@austintexas.gov.
The public hearing will also consider the Austin/Travis County Health and Human Services Department (A/TCHHSD) needs assessment, which A/TCHHSD must conduct every three years to identify and prioritize the needs in the community, as required by the Community Services Block Grant (CSBG).
A/TCHHSD receives CSBG funds to offer basic needs, employment support, case management and preventive health services through the department’s six neighborhood centers and three outreach locations.
A/TCHHSD is conducting a survey to gather information for the needs assessment. You may take the survey by visiting the website or by contacting Bianca Enriquez at 512-972-5014 for more information or to request a paper survey.
