The Austin Police Department (APD) has identified the suspect in the November 1 homicide as 30-year-old Nora Lee Lopez.
On Monday, November 1, 2021, at approximately 8:10 a.m., 9-1-1 received a shots fired call in the 8400 block of GarCreek Cir. When APD and Austin-Travis County EMS arrived on scene, they found a Black man with multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to Dell Seton Medical Center at the University of Texas where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at approximately 9:11 a.m. by Dr. Teixeira. The victim was identified as James Traylor.
Homicide investigators and crime scene technicians were called to process the scene and interview witnesses. According to a witness, an altercation broke out between Traylor and a female neighbor over the alleged theft of a “Bouncy House.” The argument ended with female neighbor shooting Traylor multiple times and then fleeing the scene.
On November 2, 2021, the Travis County Medical Examiner’s office conducted an autopsy and ruled the cause of death as a multiple gunshots and the manner, homicide.
An arrest warrant for 1st Degree Murder has been issued for Nora Lee Lopez, Hispanic female, 30 years of age.
