On Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at approximately 10:39 p.m., Austin 911 received a call of shots fired in the 6800 blk. of Bitteroot Trail. Upon arrival, Austin police officers located Luis Gaytan with life-threatening injuries. He was transported to St. David’s South Austin Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries. He was pronounced deceased at 11:30 p.m. by Dr. Ebadat.
 
Austin Homicide detectives and crime scene units arrived to begin processing the scene. They are speaking with witnesses and looking for more information.
 
The Travis County Medical Examiner has conducted an autopsy and is awaiting lab and investigative results before determining cause and manner of death.
