Deceased:  Anthony Wayne Washington | Black male | 11/17/1982

The preliminary investigation indicates that Anthony Wayne Washington was riding a bicycle eastbound on the Ben White Blvd. service road when he ran a red light and crossed over into the southbound lanes of the S. IH-35 service road. The driver of a silver, 2017 Chevrolet Cruz was driving in the far left lane of the IH-35 service road when she saw Mr. Washington enter the intersection. She honked to alert him while attempting to stop in time, but he crashed into her vehicle.
 
Anthony Wayne Washington was transported to St. David’s South Austin Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased shortly thereafter.
 
The driver of the Chevrolet Cruz remained on scene. No charges are expected to be filed.
