On Friday, September 30, 2022, at approximately 10:54 p.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a crash between a Penske yellow box truck and a pedestrian, Paul Mullen, in the intersection of S Congress Ave and Industrial Blvd.

A preliminary investigation indicates Mr. Mullen was crossing the road when the yellow box truck was traveling on Congress in the northbound inside lane when he was struck. Mullen died at the scene. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. There were no indications of impairment. No arrests have been made.
