SECOND UPDATE: On Monday January 23, 2023, APD's Tactical Intelligence Unit and the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force located and apprehended a juvenile involved in this case in east Austin. He was booked into Gardner Betts Juvenile Justice Center for Capital Murder.

UPDATE: On Tuesday, January 3, 2023, Austin Police Department (APD) Homicide detectives obtained warrants for two suspects, Zavien Nathaniel Castilleja and a 17-year-old who was 16-years-old when the murder happened. On that same day, APD's Tactical Intelligence Unit and the U.S. Marshals Lone Star Fugitive task force arrested Castilleja and the 17-year-old in two separate locations. Castilleja is charged with Capital Murder, and the 17-year-old is charged with 2nd Degree Felony Criminal Conspiracy.
The 17-year-old was released on house arrest one day after his arrest on January 4, 2023.

On Saturday, October 22, 2022, at approximately 12:35 a.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a crash at the McDonald's located at 5762 N Mopac Expressway. At the scene, officers found a vehicle that hit a pole near the McDonald's restaurant. The driver, Andrew Clayton Johnson, was inside the vehicle with gunshot wounds. Johnson died on the scene.
The investigation is still ongoing. Investigators believe this is an isolated incident with no threat to the public and ask the community to come forward with any information.
