Airport Boulevard Advisory Group

Austin Housing Finance Corporation (AHFC) Board

The mission of the AHFC is to generate and implement strategic housing solutions for the benefit of low- and moderate- income residents of the City of Austin. The AHFC's primary functions are to:

  • Issue single-family and multi-family bonds for the financing of reasonably priced housing
  • Assist the City in the delivery of reasonably priced housing programs using local and federal funds.
Codes and Ordinances Joint Committee

To consider and make recommendations to the Planning Commission regarding: (1) proposed amendments to the Land Development Code for which review is required under Section 25-1-502 (Amendment; Review); (2)requests to initiate amendments to the Land Development Code under Section 25-1-501 (Initiation), please see Codes and Ordinances Joint Committee (Web)

Community Development Commission

Comprehensive Plan Joint Committee

To consider and make recommendations to the Planning Commission on issues relating to the comprehensive plan, including: (1) proposed amendments to the Comprehensive Plan; and (2) implementation of the Comprehensive Plan, including policy directives or initiatives of the city council or the Planning Commission, please visit the Comprehensive Plan Joint Committee (Web)

Design Commission

To learn how you can provide advisory recommendations to the city council as requested by the council to assist in developing public policy and to promote excellence in the design and development of the urban environment, please visit Design Commision (Web). Historic Landmark Commission

For more information on how to prepare and periodically revise an inventory of the structures and areas that may be eligible for designation as historic landmarks, please visit Historic Landmark Commision (Web). Prepare, review and propose amendments to the Historic Landmark Preservation Plan. Review requests to establish or remove a historic designation, make recommendations on the requests to the Land Use Commission, as determined in accordance with Section 25-1-46 (Land Use Commission). Section 2-1-147 of the City Code. The duties of the Historic Landmark Commission are to:

  • Promote historic preservation activities in Austin
  • Review applications for heritage grant monies
  • Review applications for historic zoning cases
  • Review certificates of appropriateness and tax exemption applications for city landmarks
  • Review sign and building permits in historic districts
Housing and Planning Committee

The Housing and Planning Committee may review housing and related land use and mobility issues, community development block grants, the City's comprehensive plan, the land development code, development processes, neighborhood planning, noise, annexations, and related matters. Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission (ICRC)

Per City Charter Article II Section 1, the Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission (Web) is empowered to divide the city into 10 geographical council districts for the election of council members. Please visit the site for more information.

Land Development Code Advisory Group

To act as an advisory group to assist in public outreach and provide feedback on the development and implementation of a revised land development code for the City of Austin, please visit the Land Development Code Advisory Group (Web). Planning Commission

To make and amend a master plan, recommend approval or disapproval of proposed zoning changes and control land subdivision within neighborhood planning areas and submit, annually, a list of recommended capital improvements, please see Planning Commision (Web). Regional Affordability Committee

The Regional Affordability Committee provides an expanded opportunity for transparency, public input, and collaboration between taxing jurisdictions and local leaders to improve how we serve to the community. See Ordinance No. 20150129-022.

Small Area Planning Joint Committee

To advise the Council on issues surrounding planning and zoning in areas such as downtown, corridors and centers, neighborhoods, the waterfront, planned unit developments, and transit oriented developments, please see the Small Area Planning Joint Committee (Web). South Central Waterfront Advisory Board

To provide continuity and communication among stakeholders and advocates as the South Central Waterfront Plan moves toward implementation and to provide recommendations to the city council regarding plan implementation, please see South Central Waterfront Advisory Board (Web). Urban Renewal Board

In an election conducted on December 5, 1959, the voters of Austin elected to create an Urban Renewal Agency (Web) to carry out Urban Renewal projects, with powers in accordance with Chapter 374 of the Texas Local Government Code (Urban Renewal in Municipalities). The Board of Commissioners of the Urban Renewal Agency, who are appointed by the Mayor with the consent of the Council, primary responsibility is to oversee the implementation and compliance of approved Urban Renewal Plans that are adopted by the Austin City Council. An Urban Renewal Plan's primary purpose is to eliminate slum and blighting influence within a designated area of the city.
