Financial Services maintains the financial integrity of the City through comprehensive and integrated financial management services.

The Financial Services Information Technology division develops and supports applications and tools to support financial information management and reporting requirements for the City of Austin.

Financial Services IT supports widely used and award-winning City of Austin applications and systems such as:

  • Advantage Financial, the enterprise financial system.
  • eCapris, the capital projects and information system.
  • eCombs. the operating budget management and performance measurement system.
  • MicroStrategy, the department’s business intelligence platform.
  • BANNER, the Human Resources payroll and timekeeping system.
  • Vendor Connect, the vendor management system.
  • Austin Finance Online, the City’s financial transparency tool which allows users to search and download financial and purchasing information.

The department also provides Service Desk support for the financial system and related applications, maintains the department’s divisional intranet sites, and provides desktop and network support to departmental employees.

Highlights and Achievements

  • Released contract management system allowing the City to manage each contract from initiation to close, improving transparency and communication with staff and the public
  • Established a new Help Desk system for financial issues to better respond to issues and help balance workloads.
  • Collected $54,135,043.93 in online payments, helping the public to more effectively do business with the City, increasing customer service, efficiency and financial accuracy.
