Apply to the APD Ride Along Program
Apply to ride along with an Austin Police officer in the Police Observer (Ride Along) program.
What to know before you apply
Requirements
- Read both the APD Ride Along Policy (586 KB), and
- Read the APD Police Observer program requirements (142 KB).
Things to know
- When selecting your ride date, please keep in mind that it takes 3-4 weeks to get a ride-along scheduled.
- Police Observers must be 18 years old or older
- Riders may only ride ONCE per calendar quarter.
How to submit your form
Once you download and complete your APD Police Observer (Ride Along) form, you can submit it by:
- Emailing APDridealong@austintexas.gov
- In person at APD, 715 East 8th St. Austin, Texas 78701 (APD Public Information Office)
