Home Repair Programs
Austin Housing has several home repair programs for income-eligible Austinites. These programs help with home repairs and modifications, with the goal of helping Austinites stay in their homes.
Architectural barriers are physical elements of a home that can make it difficult to enter, leave, or move around. Eligible homeowners and renters can receive up to $20,000 for improvements. Learn more about the Architectural Barrier Removal Program.
GO REPAIR! addresses inadequate housing conditions to ensure safe, accessible homes for Austin residents. Low-income families needing help with essential repairs may qualify for grants up to $20,000 to address structural issues in their homes. Learn more about the GO REPAIR! Grant Program.
The Minor Home Repair Grant Program assists eligible homeowners with repairs that pose an immediate threat to the occupant's health and safety (life-threatening). The City will provide up to $7,500 in grant funds for home repairs. Learn more about the Minor Home Repair Grant Program.
The Plumbing Program assists eligible homeowners with plumbing repairs and water savings. Eligible repairs include: toilets, showers, plumbing, sinks, and faucets. The City will provide up to $15,000 in grant funds for home repairs. Learn more about the Plumbing Program.
The Home Rehabilitation Loan Program offers loans up to $75,000 for interior and exterior repairs, or up to $350,000 to demolish and reconstruct the home. These loans have a 0% interest rate and may be forgiven after 15 to 20 years. Learn more about the Home Rehabilitation Loan Program.
The Private Lateral Grant Program provides free replacement or repair of private sewer lateral lines to eligible Austin Water customers of single-family homes or duplexes whose household income is 100% or less than the area Median Family Income (MFI).
