K-9 Unit

The Patrol K9 unit consists of nine K9 teams that are responsible for searching and apprehending suspects who evade on foot or conceal themselves from detection or apprehension.

The Patrol K9 teams utilize patrol officers to assist in setting up a perimeter for a search on the ground and they utilize the Air unit to assist them from the air. These K9 are trained to search and apprehend on command and they are a very valuable asset to the Austin Police Department.
