Homicide Investigation at 10601 N Lamar Boulevard

Victim (Deceased):  Carlin Elrod, Black male, 2/25/1996

On Saturday, November 15, 2025, at approximately 8:52 a.m., Austin Police (APD) Officers responded to a report of a deceased person at 10601 N Lamar Boulevard. The victim, identified as Carlin Elrod, was found on the ground with visible trauma to his body. He was pronounced deceased at the scene at 9:08 a.m.

Homicide detectives and crime scene specialists responded to process the scene and interview witnesses. The investigation is still in its preliminary stages and has revealed that Mr. Elrod was shot by an unknown suspect who fled the area.

This case is being investigated as Austin's 50th homicide of 2025.
