Austin Police (APD) detectives are investigating a fraud case involving the sale of a vehicle with a rolled-back odometer and a tampered title that was advertised through Facebook Marketplace.

On September 15, 2025, a victim purchased a vehicle using cash after meeting the seller in the 10100 block of Barden Road. The seller identified himself as the individual listed on the vehicle title and provided the victim with a title that appeared to be signed and ready for transfer.

Shortly after leaving the location, the victim experienced mechanical issues with the vehicle. Further investigation revealed the vehicle’s odometer had been altered and the mileage on the title was falsified. The victim later discovered the seller had blocked him on Facebook Marketplace and removed the vehicle listing.

Investigators are searching for the suspect, whose photos are included below, who presented the altered title and sold the vehicle.
