Homicide Investigation at the Intersection of E 5th St and Trinity St

On Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at approximately 8:32 a.m. Austin Police (APD) Officers responded to reports of a shooting at the intersection of E 5th St and Trinity St. Officers and Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services (ATEMS) arrived at the scene and located a male, later identified as Gared Goff, lying on the ground. Goff was pronounced deceased on scene at 8:50 a.m.
 
Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Specialists responded to process the scene and interview witnesses. The investigation showed that Mr. Goff was struck by gunfire from a suspect who then fled the scene.

This case is being investigated as Austin's 48th homicide of 2025.
