On Saturday, October 11, 2025, at 7:27 p.m., Austin Police (APD) officers responded to a collision involving a bicyclist and a motor vehicle in the intersection of Guadalupe Street and Denson Drive. The bicyclist, later identified as Paul Wuersig, was transported to a local hospital with head trauma. The driver of the motor vehicle remained on the scene, was not impaired, and cooperated with the investigation. Unfortunately, Mr. Wuersig was later pronounced deceased on October 21, 2025, at 11:08 a.m.
 
This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 79th fatal crash of 2025, resulting in 83 fatalities. On the date of this crash in 2024, 69 fatal crashes resulted in 74 deaths. These statements are from the initial assessment of the fatal crash, and the investigation is still pending. Fatality information may change.
