On August 16, 2025, at approximately 10:30 a.m. Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a collision involving two vehicles at the intersection of North Lamar Boulevard and West Anderson Lane. One of the drivers, identified as Billie Crawford, was transported to a local hospital. The driver of the second vehicle remained at the scene, was not impaired, and fully cooperated with the investigation. Later, on August 20, 2025, Mrs. Crawford was pronounced deceased at 11:47 p.m.

This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 66th fatal crash of 2025, resulting in 70 fatalities. On the date of this crash in 2024, 56 fatal crashes resulted in 60 deaths. These statements are from the initial assessment of the fatal crash, and the investigation is still pending. Fatality information may change.
