On Saturday, October 4, 2025, at 10:13 p.m., Austin Police officers responded to a collision involving a pedestrian and a motor vehicle at the intersection of South 1st Street and Orland Boulevard. The vehicle did not remain on scene. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased on scene.
 
This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 75th fatal crash of 2025, resulting in 79 fatalities. On the date of this crash in 2024, 68 fatal crashes resulted in 73 deaths. These statements are from the initial assessment of the fatal crash, and the investigation is still pending. Fatality information may change.
