Austin Police Arrests Suspect, Seizes Narcotics and Firearms

Suspect (Arrested): Daniel Woods, Black male, 37 years of age
On Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at 8:03 p.m., members of the Austin Police (APD) North Metro Tactical Unit attempted to stop a vehicle after observing multiple traffic violations. The driver failed to yield and attempted to evade. Officers quickly coordinated with the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) to locate and stop the vehicle. DPS units successfully intercepted the suspect vehicle along U.S. Highway 183 and brought it to a safe stop without injury to any officers, the suspect, or the public.
The subsequent investigation resulted in the arrest of the driver, later identified as Daniel Woods, who was found to be in possession of a significant quantity of narcotics, as well as multiple firearms, one of which was confirmed as stolen.
Daniel Woods was charged with the following:
- Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine) – 1st Degree Felony
- Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance (Fentanyl) – 1st Degree Felony
- Evading in a Motor Vehicle – 3rd Degree Felony
- Possession of a Firearm by a Felon – 3rd Degree Felony
- Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle – State Jail Felony
- Theft of a Firearm – State Jail Felony
Additional charges are pending and expected to be issued at the conclusion of this investigation by the APD North Metro Tactical Unit.
