Homicide Investigation at 6715 Windrift Way

Suspect (Deceased): Samuel Rios, White male, 06/09/1978

On Saturday, February 14, 2026, at 11:29 a.m., Austin Police (APD) officers responded to a welfare check at a residence at 6715 Windrift Way after a caller reported that Megan Montgomery had not reported to work.

Officers obtained a key from family members and entered the residence, where they discovered two deceased individuals. One was identified as Megan Montgomery, and the other as Samuel Rios. Both individuals had apparent trauma to their bodies and were pronounced deceased at the scene.

Homicide detectives and crime scene specialists responded and conducted an investigation. Preliminary findings indicate that Rios fatally stabbed Montgomery before taking his own life.
