On Wednesday, December 24, 2025, at approximately 8:14 p.m., Austin Police (APD) officers responded to a collision involving a motor vehicle and a pedestrian in the intersection of W. Slaughter Lane and Francia Trail. The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene, was not impaired, and is cooperating with the investigation. The unidentified female pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene.

This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 93rd fatal crash of 2025, resulting in 97 fatalities. On the date of this crash in 2024, 91 fatal crashes resulted in 97 deaths. These statements are from the initial assessment of the fatal crash, and the investigation is still pending. Fatality information may change.
